Our efforts are ongoing and intentional, as we continue to learn and seek to thoughtfully integrate these principles into our practices and structures. We acknowledge that we may make mistakes along the way but are committed to reflection and correction as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inclusion<\/strong> ensures that diverse people with different identities are able to fully participate in all aspects of the work of a team, including leadership positions and decision-making processes. This concept refers to the way that diverse individuals are valued as respected members and welcomed in a team and\/or community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Diversity<\/strong> is the presence of differences including (but not limited to) gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, and sexual orientation. This concept is key to ensuring that multiple perspectives are represented.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Access<\/strong> ensures equitable access to everyone regardless of ability and experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Equity<\/strong> ensures that everyone has access to the same opportunities to grow, contribute, and develop, regardless of their individual or group identity. FERN provides opportunities for US-based undergraduate students to engage in real-world food and nutrition policy research with our team. No previous research experience is required.
