Introduction of new or reformulated products can be an industry response to secular trends or to proposed or implemented regulations or industry pledges. Some noted trends we are able to describe include changes over time in:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Added&nbsp;sugars<\/li><li>Low-\/Non-caloric sweeteners or non-nutritive sweeteners<\/li><li>Whole grains<\/li><li>Sodium and potassium<\/li><li>Differences between national brands vs. store brands<\/li><li>Shopping patterns<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, we have also\u00a0evaluated industry pledges\u00a0such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalfoodresearchprogram.org\/evaluating-the-food-industry-manufacturers-retailers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation\u2019s marketplace pledge<\/a>, and assess the role of retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalfoodresearchprogram.org\/publications\/?_sfm_publication_related_country=180&amp;_sft_uncgfrp_policy_research=food-system-surveillance\">Explore our publications on food system surveillance.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have been tracking how products from packaged food manufacturers have evolved since the mid-2000s using time-specific nutrition label information.
