Included are brief descriptions of each tax design and dates of implementation and updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 2025 update: <\/strong>Updated Barbados salty snack tax status to implemented (as of June 1, 2025); added 2027 implementation date for Brazil’s selective beverage tax; updated Italy’s implementation date (delayed from July 2025 to January 2026).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Additional taxes that apply to sweetened and other beverages can be found in the World Bank\u2019s SSB Tax database<\/a> and the World Health Organization’s GIFNA database<\/a>. Not all taxes from those database are included here due to our specific scope of health-focused taxes targeting sweetened beverages and ultra-processed and\/or high-in saturated fat, salt, sugar, or calorie foods<\/em>. (e.g., Countries that tax plain packaged waters at a similar rate to sweetened beverages are excluded.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
